Can be due several factors when experienced on the lateral
aspect (outside of ) the hip, it is usually the movement of the
iliotibial band across the greater trochanter of the femur.
When the feet are forwards either the movement of the iliopsoas
tendon across the iliopectineal bursa or the iliofemoral
ligament across the head can be responsible. If it appears to
originate intra articularly, loose bodies or a tear to the
labrum should be considered. Soft tissue treatment should
rectify problem. You can hear an audible click on movement but
not necessarily painful.
